Velawcity has been fortunate to have worked with the same clients for over a decade in many cases. While we are busy producing proficient and expedient work product, we tend to forget that our long-standing clients aren’t aware of what’s happening behind the scenes. There’s been so much happening that we think it’s time to dedicate a post to highlight Velawcity’s 2022 happenings!
New Staff!
2022 has been a very BUSY year!! Velawcity’s client base has increased by 15% and services we deliver to many of our clients have greatly expanded. During this time of business growth, Velawcity has suffered the same staffing shortages that have plagued many industries in recent years. We’ve been searching for outstanding paralegals to join our team since the end of 2021. Finally, with much excitement, we’re pleased to introduce our newest team members:
Sharon Gray, Vice President of Business Services. Sharon has over 12 years of experience as a corporate and M&A paralegal having work in both corporations and various international law firms. Sharon also has nearly 20 years of experience working for a service company provider having assisted in many roles, ultimately as a Customer Service Account Manager prior to the company’s acquisition by CT Corporation.
Sharon has extensive knowledge of corporate and commercial real estate deals, multi-state corporate filing requirements and entity management and compliance. She provides expert support for corporate, M&A, real estate financings and large bridge and mezzanine loan transactions and is well versed in preparing and filing business entity documents in 50 states, and facilitating authentication/legalization process for international documents. Sharon majored in Business at Goldey Beacon College in Wilmington, DE, and received her General Paralegal Certificate from the Main Line Paralegal Institute at the American Center for Technical Arts & Sciences in Wayne, PA. |
.
Daragh Taylor, Senior Corporate Paralegal. Daragh has been a corporate paralegal for over 20 years assisting public and private companies on various corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, dissolution, and corporate governance. Daragh also has an enhanced level of experience and knowledge of commercial litigation and commercial real estate transactions. She has experience working directly with legal counsel and supporting attorneys and their clients to ensure their legal and business needs are met.
Daragh received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Justice Studies from the University of New Hampshire and her Paralegal Certificate from Rivier University. |
.
Meghan Lane, Carta Administrative Specialist. Meghan joined Velawcity a few months ago specifically to provide administrative support to our growing Carta Support clients. Working closely with Denise, Meghan has quickly mastered Carta. Together Denise and Meghan provide impeccable Carta legal administrative support to many law firms and corporations. Our Carta team is able to manage many clients’ needs from Carta setup to on-going day to day management, financings, and stock option/employee management.
Meghan graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music and a licensed massage therapist. |
Services Highlights
Continuing on the theme of staffing shortages, we’ve learned that many of our small law firm clients are suffering from staffing shortages as well. With large law firms offering exorbitant salaries, it has been extremely difficult to hire, and nearly impossible to retain paralegals. Because Velawcity offers on-demand paralegal services of up to a fourth-year associate level, many small firms have found Velawcity is able to become their revenue-producing paralegal department. Our clients may opt to provide a firm email address, a login to their firm’s time-keeping system or whatever is best for Velawcity to serve as their full-time paralegal department. Let us know if you’d like to discuss how we can take the pain out of your staffing shortage.
Carta Legal Administrative Support
As Meghan’s introduction indicates, Velawcity provides cost-effective Carta legal administrator services for several of our clients’ companies. Our Carta Support team provides complete support of your clients’ company Carta accounts. At the onset, we can manage the onboarding process. Post onboarding, Velawcity can manage the gamut of Carta entries: entering/managing stockholder records, entering series rounds, generating cap tables, processing option or restricted stock grants, option exercises, terminating employees, managing authorized stock, and everything in between. If you’re interested in learning about our Carta support services and how you or your clients can save significant administrative costs, let us know.
Behind the Scenes
Additionally, we’ve been working on our company’s infrastructure so that we can better support our clients:
Citrix Secured Workspace: Our outsourced IT department provides day-to-day support for our secured Citrix workspace. This provides more security for all of our clients’ files and communications.
Annual Report Database: Our database developer is creating an advanced annual report database that will eventually be able to be shared with our clients and will automate annual report notices.
Task Management Database: We have had clients ask if we can provide them with a status of open projects. In response to that request, and as we grow exponentially, our database developer is building a custom task management database that will increase our efficiency, ensure deadline compliance and provide easy access to status reports and open items for our clients.
